Modernism was a movement that developed around 1900. It was a current that was given specifically to a few cities and each with a different name: Modernism in Barcelona, Art Nouveau in Paris, Modern Style or Style Liberty in Glasgow, Jugendstil in some German cities and Sezessionstil in Vienna.
The most important feature of modernism is the exaltation of feelings, of movement, which is achieved through curved, irregular shapes and the introduction of floral and plant motifs imitating nature. More emphasis is placed on ornamentation than on functionality.
